Recent works by Ilona Glastonbury at the peripheral art space at Kabminye Wines

Reminiscent of 1930s and 1940s children’s picture books these works will have you ruminating on the joys and innocence of early childhood. Currently residing in the Barossa Valley, Glastonbury completed her formal training in visual arts at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, with Honours in 2000. This winter Barossa Living Gallery exhibits the bright and tantalising works of three diverse artists. Introducing Sarah Rothe, Bethany born and a gifted jeweller. Drawn to titanium for its richness and range of colours, Sarah’s bold yet simple forms have an industrial aesthetic highlighted by her use of mechanical fixings and are reminiscent of brightly coloured beetles. With 40 years of local, national and international exhibiting, Rod Schubert makes a welcome return to the Gallery. Rod is the Barossa’s most recognised and respected artist. Using striking flashes of cobalt blue, red and yellow, the canvases symbolise Rod’s fascination with the Australian landscape. The Barossa Living Gallery is also home to works by Marnie Wark. The dates that they will be on are as follows. 13th March - next Friday night and 3rd April - which will coincide with one of the valleys top artists, launching her work on this evening Next Friday already has a lot of bookings, however, if we get 100 people to the 13th March, Stuart will donate $500 to the Bushfire appeal, so it is for a great cause to rock up, have some great food, some great wine and support our fellow Australians. Angaston Show

If there was one word to describe the Angaston Show it would be traditional. It offers all the favourites of country shows – with one of the largest horse jumping competitions in the state, log chopping, sheep shearing, yard dog competitions, Tractor Pull, and an Exhibition Pavilion filled with local produce, jewellery, crafts and the Agricultural Bureau display. If that isn‘t enough, the Angaston show will also be holding a swap meet on the Sunday morning. For the children there will be an Animal Petting Zoo, chicken hatchery, a Magician, a Musical Entertainer, balloon sculpting, 2009 Show Boy and Girl competition and various other competitions.

Grab your family and friends and visit the Barossa Gourmet Weekend to enjoy the finest wine from 24 cellar doors, matched to sumptuous food and some of South Australia's best live entertainment. Child friendly events and activities have been organised including face painting, hands-on craft activities and games.Paint it Red this winter in Australia's premier wine region and support the Heart Foundation's "Go Red for Women" campaign, which aims to raise awareness and empower women with the knowledge to care for their own heart. Look out for the Heart Foundation 'Go Red for Women' merchandise at participating wineries.
